Louis William Ottermann passed away on March 10, 2008. Originally from New Orleans, La., Lou spent over 50 years in Chicago, Ill., and his last few years in Fort Collins. Lou was a 50-plus year member of the Masons, Palace Lodge 765, also a member of the Allied Trades Painters' Union, local 265. He was a veteran, having served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. While in Chicago, Lou was active in American Legion Post 854 and also belonged to the Society of Forty and Eight. Lou's most notable service to the community was his involvement with Little League Baseball. As a volunteer District Administrator for almost 40 years in the south Chicagoland area, he combined his love of baseball and softball, with his belief that "all kids need something to do and a place to do it." He also served on Little League's national board of directors in the 1980s. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Adam Joseph Ottermann and Katie Yung Ottermann; his brother, Adam 'Doc' Ottermann; and his loving wife, Nellie Wilson Ottermann. He is survived by his son, Robert William Ottermann; daughter in law, Margaret Fynmore Ottermann; and grandsons, Marcus Gregory Ottermann and David Barrett Ottermann, all of Fort Collins. The family wishes to thank all those who helped care for Louis over the past six years. A visitation will be held between 5 and 8 p.m. on Thursday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
