Lorine Katharine was born August 9, 1915 to August Bentzinger and Mary Beethe Bentzinger. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 19, 2011. She was baptized by Rev. H. Grupe at St. Peters Lutheran Church near Elk Creek, Nebraska. She began school in Centralia, Kansas. At age 7 she moved with her family to a farm southeast of Tecumseh Nebraska. She attended rural schools through the 8th grade. Her last rural school was Brush Hill. She was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran church in Tecumseh, Nebraska, June 19, 1929 by Rev. Jobst. In 1932 she graduated from Tecumseh High School. The last 2 years of high school was Normal Training, which allowed her to teach after graduating. Lorine taught rural schools for 10 years and 7th and 8t" grade in Cook, Nebraska for 3 years. Several years were spent substituting in Johnson county Nebraska and later in Colorado. On January 24, 1946 she was united in marriage to Frederick Henry Uthmann in St. John's Lutheran church Tecumseh, Nebraska. They made their home in Cook, Nebraska where they assisted Fred's parents in a dairy. While living in Cook, Ronald and Roger were born. Robert was born in Colorado. In 1951 the family moved to Laporte, Colorado and operated the Overland Trail Auto Court for 8 years. Lorine worked for Poudre R1, retiring in 1979. After that she managed apartment houses, retiring in1994. She moved to a condo where she lived as long as she was able. Lorine was a member of St. John's Lutheran church, a member of the Auxiliary, and the Elderberries. She attended the Senior Center and many activities there. Many hours were spent volunteering at her church, City library, and City of Fort Collins. Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed Bible class, reading, puzzles, knitting, crocheting, music, and other handiwork. Children are: Ronald Frederick Uthmann of Grand Junction, Colorado; Roger Dean Vicki Uthmann of Virginia Dale, Colorado; and Robert Wayne Peggy Uthmann of Fort Collins, Colorado. Other survivors include a niece, Jeanette Straugh of Albuquerque, New Mexico, a nephew, Jerold Bentzinger of Omaha, Nebraska, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandsons and 2 great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband Frederick Fred, and her brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Ural Bentzinger of Seward, Nebraska. Those who wish may view Lorine from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 305 E. Elizabeth, Fort Collins, Colorado, on Wednesday, August 24th at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon provided by the church Auxiliary after the interment at Grandview Cemetery.
