Lonnie Rodgers Sr., 67, of Fort Collins, died March 20, 2006, after a long battle with congestive heart failure. He was born, May 4, 1938, in Coshocton, Ohio. Lonnie transferred with the Rocky Mountain Forest Service to Fort Collins from Ohio in 1977. Lonnie retired after 30 years of service with the government in various capacities. During retirement, he drove a school bus for Poudre School District for 10 years. Lonnie was a veteran with the U.S. Air Force, a certified HAM operator and trainer, an avid runner, and a competitive softball player in Ohio and Colorado. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia; daughter, Deborah Crawley of Thornton; son, Lonnie Rodgers Jr. and daughter-in-law, Roslyn of Greeley. Lonnie was better known as "Poppy" to his five grandchildren, Cortnee Butler and husband, Ben, Ricci Crawley, U.S. Army PFC, Rachel Glaude, Noah Glaude, Jordan Glaude; and his great-grand babies, Mikayla, Taylor, Sydni and Ashton. Lonnie is also survived by brothers, John Dora, William Phyllis, Leon Zola, Henry Dorothy, Gary Della and Richard Donetta of Ohio, Delbert Kaye of Korea, Nathaniel Romella of Maryland, Otis Theresa of Michigan and Pete Tommie of Illinois; sister, Mary Clarence Fowler, Carolyn Ed Webber of Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Lonnie will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday also at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. The Rev. David Williams will officiate the service. To honor Lonnie's wishes, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lonnie Rodgers Sr. Memorial Fund, for scholarships to his great-grandchildren in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W.
