Lillian Schnabel of Fort Collins went to be with her Lord and Savior March 4, 2008, at the Columbine Health Care facility in Fort Collins. She was born April 14, 1927, in Eureka, S.D., to John and Katherine Schumacher, one of five children. She was raised on a farm 13 miles east of Eureka. On April 30, 1944, she married her sweetheart Allen R Schnabel in Eureka, S.D. They made their home on a farm seven miles southeast of Eureka where they raised some grains and had dairy cows. They were blessed with six children. In June 1970, they moved to Fort Collins, where they built their new home and resided there for 38 years until moving to the Worthington Independent Living Facility Jan. 19, 2008. She attended Faith Evangelical Free Church. Lillian enjoyed gardening, bicycling and loved to have family gatherings always trying to make sure she made everyone's favorite food or dessert. Lillian worked as a receptionist for Dr. Tiahart for a couple of years and for Hewlett Packard for 13 years until her retirement May 1992. Lillian is survived by her loving husband, Allen; four sons, Stan Sonja Schnabel of Ashley, N.D., Gary Carol Schnabel of Milton-Freewater, Ore., Les Betty Schnabel of Wellington. Myron Sherry Schnabel of Fort Collins, and two daughters Marian Larry Ouret of Loveland, and Diana Rick Blaher of Elizabeth, 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Esther Bertsch of Albuquerque, N.M., one sister-in-law, Leona Schumacher of Eureka, S.D., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Art Schumacher, her twin Milton Schumacher; and a sister, Irene, in infancy. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Friday at Faith Evangelical Free Church, 3920 S. Shields. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Pastor Brad Jensen will officiate at the service. Those who desire may view Mrs. Schnabel, from noon to 7 p.m., Thursday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
