Listen to Obituary
Leland "Lee" Skrdlant, 80, of Fort Collins, passed away Thursday, August 09 in a fishing accident.

Born to Alice (Egging) Skrdlant and James Skrdlant on April 29, 1938, in Sidney, NE, Lee served in the U.S. Army in Japan from 1956 – 1958. He met his wife Nancy Anderson in Hastings, NE and they married in 1961. The couple moved to Fort Collins in 1963 where he started his career in radiology working for Doctors Medical Center. Sixteen years later he left and opened a Daylight Donuts shop before moving into sales, working for several consumer goods wholesale companies. During the course of his sales career he received multiple promotions and awards for salesman of the year.

Lee was a long-time member and past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge 804, where he continued to play an active role in the organization as treasurer. Through the Elks Welcome Home Program, Lee assisted homeless veterans in getting back on their feet by taking them shopping for basic essentials. Lee volunteered at the Fort Collins Welcome Center, providing adventure ideas to tourists from around the globe. He cared for his elderly neighbors and simply helped whoever needed it. Lee attended Saint John XXIII Catholic Church where he acted as usher and gathered collections. In his downtime he loved fishing, bowling, traveling, and golfing. Lee Skrdlant never sat still.

Lee was preceded in death by his wife Nancy in 2011, and son Tom in 2006. Lee is survived by daughter Lori (Skrdlant) Painter and former son-in-law Joel Painter of Fort Collins, son John Skrdlant and his wife Joanna (Jose) of Torrance, CA, daughter Lisa Skrdlant of Jupiter, FL, and 3 grandchildren: Katie Painter, Seth Painter, and Ysabella Atehortua.
