John William Shields, Jr., 76, of Fort Collins, Colorado passed from this life to his eternal home on May 10, 2014. Born on July 21, 1937 in Fort Worth, Texas to John William Shields, Sr and mother Mancel Ivy, he graduated from Northside High School before earning his undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University in 1959 and later his master's from the University of Texas. John married the love of his life, Patricia Tish Butts in Sante Fe, New Mexico on July 3, 1983. His early career in sales and marketing with companies such as General Electric and Winchester was followed later in life with ownership of Clarke's Hallmark in Old Town Fort Collins and many years of service at the Corner Coin Shop in Fort Collins. He had a lifelong passion for baseball, enjoyed the game of golf, and frequently traveled the world with Tish. In his love for the Lord, he faithfully served God through Bible Study Fellowship for 14 years. He is survived by his wife Tish, daughter Ramsee Gosney and her husband Ryan of Broomfield, Colorado, son Braden Anderson of Hollywood, California, and his beloved grandchildren - Reeve 11, Raleigh 9 and Ridge 7 Gosney. A celebration of John's life will be held at 11 am on Thursday, May 15th, 2014 at the Drake Road Christian Church in Fort Collins. If you so desire, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in honor of John be sent to either Bible Study Fellowship BSF International, 19001 Huebner Road, San Antonio, Texas 78258-4019 or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society 720 S. Colorado Blvd, Suite #500-S, Denver, Colorado 80246. Psalm 116:15 "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His faithful servants."
