Joan 'Jo' Faye Robinson (Horn), age 87, devoted mother to four children and dedicated wife to Dr. James L. Robinson, peacefully passed away from natural causes in the early evening hours of August 4, 2022, in Ft. Collins, Colorado. She was in the loving presence of her son Jerry and daughter Jane. Jo was born October 1, 1934, to Amos and Ruth Horn. She was raised on the family ranch in Granby, Colorado with her three siblings. Jo completed her BA in education at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) after attending college in Arizona and at Pasadena College in California where she was a member the Rose Bowl Parade princess court. It was at UNC she met her husband Jim. They were married on December 28, 1957, and settled in Iowa where they raised their family.
Jo was an active community member in Cedar Falls, Iowa and later Ft. Collins, CO where she had moved following the death of her husband in 1993. She was a member of PEO, a philanthropic educational organization for women, and United Methodist Women (UMW). She was recognized as Cedar Valley Community Volunteer of the Year in 1984, and a strong supporter of Cedar Falls Public Schools where Jim was School Superintendent. Jo was a devoted member of St. Timothy's United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, prepared countless meals and served the church community. As a mother, grandmother and recent great-grandmother she was generous, loving and kind beyond measure. Jo was a faithful friend to many and had recently spoken to her friend of nearly 70 years. She enjoyed helping others, growing roses, playing bridge, drinking coffee, eating anything sweet, raising her children and loving her friends and family.
Jo demonstrated an unwavering strength throughout her lifetime. Her faith in God, personal resolve and sense of humor sustained her as she set an example of how to live with grace and love through adversity.
Jo is survived by her sister Doris Schwab (Arvada, CO), brother Jack Horn (Granby, CO), four children, Jerry Robinson (Ft. Collins, CO), Dr. Jane Robinson (Denver, CO), Judy Heithoff (Council Bluffs, IA), and Janet Fanning (Loveland, CO), eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. She is proceeded in death by her parents Amos and Ruth Horn, sister Edna Palmer, and husband Dr. James L. Robinson.
Jo will be laid to rest in Cedar Falls, IA with her husband. Jerry and Jane would like to express their deepest gratitude for the wonderful help and care provided by Dignity Hospice of Denver. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 1st, 2022, at 3 p.m. – First United Methodist Church / 1005 Stover St., / Ft. Collins, CO 80524. A gravesite service will be held in Cedar Falls, Iowa at a later date.
