Jerome Donald Carr

JEROME DONALD CARR 4/26/1933-6/22/2013 of Fort Collins, CO. Jerry was born in Amble, Michigan to Don and Zelda Carr. He was the oldest of three brothers: Jerry, Lynn, and Duane. He went to Michigan State University and earned a degree in Economics. He was married on February 2, 1957 to Constance Ann Rosenberger of Breckenridge, MI. He started his career with Ford Motor Company as a graduate trainee and then moved to Stambaugh, MI to run a bank and insurance agency. Jerry and Connie moved to Ionia, MI, where he worked for First Security Bank. He and his cousin, Bill subsequently bought an insurance agency. Jerry worked in insurance and real estate in Ionia for the bulk of his career, where he and his wife remained to raise two children, Stuart and Amy. During those years Jerry was active on the school board, Rotary Club, Elks, Masonic Temple, and Jaycees, where he won the Distinguishes Service Award. He was honored by future-President Gerald R. Ford for service to the community. He rose to the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army and was company Commander of the Ionia National Guard. In 1982, he and his wife relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado. He became a consultant and partner in the Lindenmeier Development Corporation and completed the final filing of the homes on Lindenmeier Lake. He was a board director of 1st State Bank. Jerry enjoyed golf. He was a member of the Fort Collins Country Club, where he also served as a board member. Other interests included hunting, fishing, hiking, investing, reading, and gardening. He is survived by: wife, Connie;-son, Stuart Carr married to Rhonda Haley Carr; daughter, Amy Carr Howells married to David Howells; grandchildren, Ian Howells, Ashley Howells, and Alex Carr. A memorial service will be held at First united Methodist Church, 1005 Stover Street on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Jerome will be interned in the columbarium at First United Methodist Church.
