Janet J. Lyon, wife, mother, and grandmother extaordinaire, 66, of Fort Collins, died November 8, 2011 at Pathways Hospice at McKee Medical Center after a lengthy battle with gastric cancer. Janet was born March 2, 1945 in Holdrege, Nebraska to Charles and Phyllis Lee Malm. Janet graduated from Holdrege High School in 1963. She married Wayne E. Lyon, her high school sweetheart, on May 2, 1964. They made their home in Fort Collins, Colorado. Janet was a bookkeeper at Tiger Steel, Inc. for 32 years until diagnosed with cancer. Janet loved reading, sewing, playing cards and cooking for and spending time with family. Survivors include her husband, Wayne; her children, Stephanie and Ron Tomasini and Scott and Julie Lyon; five grandchildren, Joshua, Emily, and Nicholas Tomasini, Sheridan Smith and Jake Lyon; siblings, Pam and Chuck Meisenbach, Bill and Jody Malm all of Alma, Nebraska, Tim and Barbara Malm and Tammi and Kent Sturgis all of Holdrege, Nebraska, Ron and Nita Lyon of Holdrege, Nebraska and Leon and Becky Lyon of Alma, Nebraska; many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Medgyesy and her team at Front Range Cancer specialist for their kind and loving care, as well as the staff at Pathways Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 1005 Stover on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Reverend David Dalke will officiate the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Pathways Hospice in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
