James Daniel Welty died March 28, 2019 in Tucson. He was born April 16, 1940 to Kersey Welty & Helen (Campbell) Welty in Kearney, Nebraska. He grew up and attended schools in Kearney.
He married Patty Tilger on November 18, 1978 in Estes Park, Colorado. They lived in Fort Collins, Colorado. After retiring from being owner/operator of Poudre Auto Body, Jim managed their commercial real estate and worked on projects at home.
Jim was an avid streetrodder and drove his 1934 Ford Sedan to many events in various states & Canada, or he drove it just for fun. He built and customized many cars. He also was a talented craftsman working with wood and metal. He remodeled their home. In 2000 he and his wife began travelling in their motor home full time. They enjoyed riding their bicycles, riding the Harley motorcycle, attending NASCAR races, seeing the sights, and visiting family and friends. He was also a member of the Elks and Moose clubs. Their circle of friends enlarged greatly during their travels.
Jim is survived by his 3 daughters, Kelley Strobel (Curt), Kim Welty-Drennan (Galen), and Kristy Janicki (Jay), his grandchildren, Skyler Whitmore (Ben), TJ Michie, Jake Strobel, Shayla Drennan, Dylan Drennan, Carter Janicki, Andi Janicki and Jacey Janicki and his great granddaughter, Blakely Whitmore, Brother Sam (Cherryl) Sioux city, IA, sisters Patti Juhl (Rick) Garden City, KS Debrah Tucker (Scott) Thornton, Co. And the dog Archie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ronald.
Funeral Mass will be held on June 7, 2019 at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Fort Collins, Colo.
