We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Hermie Corns on April 2, 2023. Hermie was 82 and is survived by his wife, Monya Corns; daughter, Toi Screnci, son, Craig Corns, and five grandchildren. We mourn the loss of such a prominent member of our community. Hermie served his country for 22 years and rose to the rank of Chief Master Sargent. After retiring from the Air Force, he spent the next 20 years at Platte River Power Authority, fulfilling their mission of providing reliable and environmentally responsible energy throughout the region. Not one to be content with retired life, Hermie nurtured his true calling: coaching girls' volleyball. From the Boys and Girls Club, to Preston Middle School, to club volleyball with Premier, to ultimately launching his own non-profit Legacy Volleyball Academy; Hermie had a passion for shaping young athletes into the future generations of women's volleyball players. When not coaching volleyball, Hermie loved travelling to exotic places - eager to explore different cultures and cuisines. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with family. Hermie will be honored and laid to rest at Grandview Cemetery on April 13, 2023 at 3:00 PM.
