Harriett Ann Hoff

In the enormous room are tables covered with paper sheets, troll dolls, and bingo bags, proof that the friendliest voices and purest souls can be found in the oddest places. For amongst the cards and daubers, on most nights of the week, one could find the lady simply known to her numerous friends as "Harriett". And anyone who met her cannot argue that her voice was always friendly and her soul was pure. She could walk into any place and strike up a conversation for half an hour, whether she knew the person or not. She treated everyone with respect, even if they failed to do the same to her. "Make sure you do what you're supposed to do," she told her children. 1/ And you better be respectful." Words to live by, and she followed them even as her life shifted from bingo and Blackhawk to battling cancer. She remained true to these words even as the disease changed her life and the lives of those around her. Harriett Ann Hoff passed away after a valiant struggle against cancer at the age of 68 on November 6, 2014. She was born April 17, 1946 in Fort Collins Colorado, daughter of Elva "Terri" and Harry Dowell. She graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1964 and worked at Woodward Governor and other various jobs, but her most important jobs were being a mother and wife. She lived her entire life in Fort Collins, and married Ron Hoff on December 12, 1970. She is survived by her four children: Debi Collier and Rick of Woodruff, South Carolina, Gerry Black and Kim of Fort Collins, Jeff Hoff and Becky of Fort Lupton, Colorado, and John Hoff of Fort Collins; her sister, Marla Homolka and Charlie of Casper, Wyoming; brother, Doug Hoffman of Cowdrey, Colorado; 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and various friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Dowell, mother, Terri Bertroch, and husband, Ron Hoff. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, 3 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma, great grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, avid bingo player, and friend. Harriett was all of these things and then some. She lived a simple life and all she wanted was to spend time with her family, and friends. She loved going to bingo and she also enjoyed going to Blackhawk and Las Vegas. In short, the world has lost a wonderful soul. She lived her life like a perfect complete BINGO. She's now an angel in God's bingo hall, and every bingo card she plays is a winner.
