Harold Earl Wilt the son of Orville and Evelyn (Marks) Wilt was born on October 24th 1943 in Fort Collins Colorado at Poudre Valley Hospital. He passed away on July 13th 2018 at home after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 74.
Harold 'Butch' grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado and graduated in the class of 1962 from Fort Collins High. He received a diploma in Professional Locksmithing and Advanced Locksmithing through correspondence with Foley-Belsaw Institute. On August 15th, 1964 Harold united in marriage to Janet Knehans, which later ended in divorce. This union was blessed with two children. Harold worked at numorous jobs throughout his life. He worked briefly as a hod carrier for a brick mason, but primarily at the Frozen Food Center, the National Cigarette Company, Poudre R1 School District, Larimer County, and Colorado State University.
He was a member of the Fort Collins Moose Lodge for 27 years and also the Fort Collins Elks Club. He was known as the 'Candy Man' while he was a member of the Fort Collins CB Club back in the 1970's. To add to the list, Butch was very active in both the Roving Moose Camping Club and Wapiti Camping Club. He was a Salvation Army Soldier in 1982. He resigned the Articles of War as a Salvation Army Soldier on December 25th, 2011.
Harold 'Butch' enjoyed doing volunteer work for the Salvation Army. He also enjoyed being active in slow-pitch softball as a pitcher, his bowling league, darts, raquetball, fishing (where he had to catch the first and the most), boating, and camping. Butch aslo enjoyed horseshoes and he was in tournaments, some of which he won. During the holiday seasons, you could drive by the house and th e yard was always decorated. He loved karoke, collecting lighthouses, and also making buttons. Harold was very partriotic and loved his country.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Evelyn and step father Gene Little, brother Orville Wilt, sister Donna Wilt.
Left to treasure his memory is his life partner/wife Nancy Krieger, daughter Donna Rae of Superior, Nebraska, son Keith Wilt and wife Melissa of Superior, Nebraksa, and daughter Jolene McClure and husband Kevin of El Dorado, Kansas. 15 grandchildren and 10 1/2 great-grandchildren. Sister Dianne Hillman and husband Bill of Rock Hill, South Carolinia, sister Betty Wagner and husband Wally of Thorton, Colorado, sister Marie Gibbons of Fort Collins, Colorado, brother Bob Little and wife Ruth of Fort Collins, Colorado, sister in law Margaret Wilt of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Grandview Cemetery. A memorial service and reception will follow at 11 a.m. at the Salvation Army, 3901 S. Mason. In lieu of flowers to donate to the Salvation Army or American Cancer Society in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
