Harold B. Allen, 92, of Fort Collins lost his courageous fight with lung cancer on Nov. 14. He was born in Streater, Ill., and lived in Illinois until graduating from high school. He spent most of his adult life in retail business owning grocery and variety stores. He enjoyed traveling and RVing and spent early retirement seeing the U.S. He married Mildred Whitman in 1936 who survives him. He is also survived by a brother, Lloyd Allen of Largo, Fla.; by daughter, Linda Nelson and husband, Kenneth; by son, H. Brett Allen and wife, Sue; by grandchildren, Gregory Nelson, Kimberly Saum-Nelson, Courtney Allen, Travis Allen, Bartt Allen and their families. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1005 Stover St, Fort Collins, on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008. Interment will immediately follow at the Columbarium at First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to First United Methodist Church or Hospice of Larimer County.
