Listen to Obituary
Charlotte Ann White, 93, of Fort Collins, Colorado (formerly of Scottsdale, Arizona), died peacefully on November 11, 2024. Charlotte was born on October 14, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, to August and Christine (Reitz) Dinges. She was the older of 2 children. The family moved to South Bend, Indiana, in 1940. Charlotte graduated from John Adams High School at the head of her class in 1949 at age 17. She married Charles L. (Chuck) White, Jr., in South Bend on October 7, 1950. Chuck and Charlotte were blessed with two children, Charles L., III, and Kathleen Ann. The family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1960, where they quickly adapted to the southwestern lifestyle. Charlotte was proud of her Lutheran heritage and was always active in her church, most recently Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Scottsdale, where she worshipped regularly and volunteered for many different boards and positions. She enjoyed several hobbies, including knitting and crocheting, cooking, bird watching, desert drives, playing pinochle, and being a dog-parent for many lucky dachshunds over the years. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, by husband Charles Jr., and by granddaughter Jacqueline White. Charlotte relocated to Fort Collins in 2019 after Charles Jr.'s death, where she could be close to daughter Kathy and family. She is survived by brother Kenneth Dinges of Cypress, Texas, son Chuck (and Jeanne) of Dallas, Texas, daughter Kathy (and Tom Gregory) of Ft. Collins, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, a nephew and niece, and many cousins. Charlotte will be remembered as a loving daughter and sister, devoted wife of 68 years, nurturing mother who provided constant care and guidance, and grandmother who made sure there were always juice bottles in the refrigerator, played a good game of gin rummy, and shared bedtime stories and prayers.

Memorial service and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Charlotte's name to HJH Libraries for All ( www.librariesforall.org ) or the charity of your choice.
