Charlotte Mae Barrett, 74, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado after a 10 month battle with Leukemia. Charlotte Diede was born, February 10, 1935 to Albert and Rose Diede at Miller, South Dakota. She grew up and attended grade school and high school in Miller, where she graduated in 1953. Charlotte married Jim Barrett on June 27, 1954 at the Greenleaf Methodist Church. They spent the next 15 years living in Miller, South Dakota. In 1969, Charlotte and Jim moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, where they were employed until retirement in 1997. After retiring, Charlotte and Jim traveled some and spent winters in Harlingen, Texas, in their 5th wheel. Grateful to have shared in her life are her husband of 55 years, Jim; 4 daughters, Cindy and Becky Barrett, Sheila Ray McDaniel, and Susan Taylor; 2 granddaughter, Kelly and Tracy Taylor, all of Fort Collins; 4 Siblings, Phyllis Bell of Wichita, Kansas, Sally Chalk of Fort Collins, Colorado, Ervin and Loretta Diede of Hastings, Minnesota, Velda Pitcher of New Orleans, Louisiana, and many nieces and nephews. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Elmer Diede. A Memorial Service will be held, Monday, October 26, 2:00 p.m. at The Victory Bible Fellowship Church, 208 Remington Street, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.
