Carl Thorson Hayward, 78, of Fort Collins, died Nov. 29, 2008, at home after a long illness. Mr. Hayward was born April 21, 1930, in Hyannis, Neb., to Clyde Hayward and Myrtle Thorson Hayward. He grew up on the family ranch and graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis in 1948. He then graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1952 with a B S degree in Agriculture. He was president of Delta Chi Fraternity. He later did his graduate work in Economics. Carl married Carol R. Farmer on May 25, 1952 in Ashland, Neb. He and his family moved to Fort Collins in 1966. Carl was an insurance claim adjuster and he owned and managed McMillan Claim Service until his retirement in 1983. Survivors include his wife, Carol R. Hayward of Fort Collins; two daughters, Ann David Miranda of Covina, Calif., and Kay Steven Cramer of Lodi, Wisc.; a son, Mark Hayward of Wellington; a brother, Merle Della Hayward of Hyannis, Neb.; a sister, Kay James Soliday of Tigard, Ore.; and five grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7th at Hyannis Cemetery in Hyannis, Neb.
