Calvin Christopher Lorenz, 88 of Loveland, Colorado Died November 3, 2013 at Medical Center of the Rockies. Calvin was born March 10, 1925 in Weld County Rural, Colorado to Chris Lorenz and Sarah Bohlender Lorenz. Calvin graduated from Gilcrest High School in Gilcrest, Colorado. He also attended Union College for three years in Lincoln, Nebraska. Calvin served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific as a medic. Calvin was a heavy equipment operator, welder, cattle feeding and farmed in Colorado. Calvin was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the American Radio Relay League, and Northern Colo. Private Pilots Assoc. He was an avid amateur ham radio operator, W0GZW Calvin is survived by his daughters: Wanda Lorenz Buderus of Port Orchard, Washington, Jan Lorenz Nickerson of Gilbert, AZ; two sons, Terry Lorenz of Wellington, Colorado and Ted Lorenz of Greeley, Colorado; a brother, Virgil Lorenz of Gilcrest; four grandchildren, Kelly Lorenz, Ashley Buderus Blasy, Kaylin Nickerson, Madelyn Nickerson Preceding Calvin in death are his parents, Chris and Sarah Lorenz; a sister Velda Hart; and a brother, Harold Lorenz. A funeral service will be held Friday, November 15, 2013, 11 a.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Wellington, Colorado.
