Aurora Santiago, 73, died July 13, 2007, certified dead July 14, 2007at Poudre Valley Hospital. Aurora was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Vieques, Puerto Rico, to Isabel Ventura and Lucas Castro. She lived most of her life in Fredricksted, St. Croix U.S. Virgin Islands. In the year 2000 she came to Fort Collins. Aurora loved to work all kinds of handcrafts. She loved and enjoyed flowers which she replicated with papers of all colors. She was a people person, always cared for the needs of others. She was a loving, cheerful and caring person. Her favorite Bible text was the Lord's Prayer and her favorite hymn was "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Survivors include her sisters, Aida Viera and Elizabeth Ford; her seven children, Nancy Santiago, Sandra Santiago, Jesus M. Santiago, Zenon Santiago, Zoriada Johnson, Rita Velazquez and Diana Santiago; 15 grandchildren, Yelisha M. Rodriguez, Jonaisha Rodriguez, Johua E. Belardo, Lemuel Santiago, Desmond Santiago, Zenon Santiago Jr., Zeno Santiago and Angelicia Santiago, Sandra C. Johnson; Ezequiel Velazquez, Andrecito Velazquez, Dana Velazquez, Yolinette Velazquez, Esther Wood; and four great-grandchildren: D. Marcos Aponte, J. Manuel Aponte, A.Misael Aponte, and Damarisha Belardo. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m., Wednesday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Frank Fournier will officiate at the service.
