It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Antoinette (Toni) Leahe Lueck who passed away on December 30, 2021 at Poudre Canyon Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on June 11, 1942, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Clarence H. and Naomi L. Lueck. She was the first of four children.
Toni received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh in chemistry and mathematics in 1964 and her Master of Library Science from Case-Western University in Cleveland, Ohio in 1965. She continued her education at Colorado State University taking courses in geology and animal sciences.
She was employed by the University of Dayton, Battelle Memorial Institute, Colorado State University (CSU), and the Water Research Center in Cairo, Egypt as a consultant. She retired in 1990 from CSU. Over her working years she worked as a research documentalist and reference librarian. Over the course of her career, she published numerous articles, bibliographies, videos, and chapters in textbooks. She served on the University Faculty Council, numerous faculty committees, and held various offices. She was active in the Colorado Library Association, the American Chemical Society, and the American Library Association.
After her retirement, she bred and raised Morgan horses at her ranch, Grey Hills Morgans. She was a member of the American Morgan Horse Association, Morgan Stock Horse Association and regularly showed her horses at annual stock shows. She also served on the Fort Collins Disabled Resources Board, with an interest in transportation issues for those with disabilities. She enjoyed traveling with her friends both in the United States at national parks, state parks, and large cities as well as in Europe, Africa, and East Asia.
She is survived by her loving siblings, Jean L. Lloyd of Springfield, Virginia, Laura A. Emmerichs of Bellingham, Washington, and Michael J. Lueck of Oshkosh, Wisconsin as well as long-time friends and colleagues.
She loved books, cooking, travel, horses, cats, her family, and friends. We hold her in our hearts and memories.
