Annette Derr Hersh was born on September 14th, 1957, in Laramie, Wyoming to Eugene (Gene) and Geraldine (Gerry) Smith. Number five of eight children, Annette was a beloved sister and best friend to her family. She graduated from Laramie High School and went on to attend the University of Wyoming as one of the first female athletes to receive a scholarship from the University for diving. Annette's love and pride for Wyoming were much like those Cowboys, strong and full of grit. She left for Montana to become a hairdresser, returning to Laramie where she met the love of her life, Hank. Annette followed Hank to Fort Collins where she did hair and worked as Secretary and Treasurer at Henry Hersh Trucking. Her most cherished roles were as a mother, wife, sister and "Grams".
Annette was full of laughter and love for her family. Her siblings, husband, sons, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and family were her pride and joy. She was a great entertainer, making crave-able meals, and being the life of the party. Her crafts were endless, she could truly do anything with her many talents and was always the most festive of any bunch. Her quick-wit and competitiveness were always on display, often, the three times a year CSU and WYO played each other or during a round of golf. Annette was a treasured member of the Pelican Lakes community where her love for golf was always inside the fairway and on par. Whether it be during tournaments, ladies league or trying out a new course in Arizona or elsewhere, her laugh was contagious and heard by all.
Annette was preceded in death by her father, Eugene (Gene) P. Smith; mother, Geraldine (Gerry) Smith; sister, Bernadette Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Hank Hersh; son, Scotty (Suzi) Hersh of Windsor, CO; grandchildren, McKenna and Teagan Hersh; step-son Josh (Whitney) Hersh of Timnath, CO; grandchildren, Addison and Charlie Hersh; siblings, Stacy Smith of Laramie, WY; Shelly Newman (Richie Harokopis) of Laramie, WY; Gene Smith of Laramie, WY; Bret Smith of North Hollywood, CA; Geri (Todd) Gillum of Oceanside, CA; and Jennifer (Barry) Hunt of Fort Collins, CO. Anyone who was lucky enough to meet Annette got to be in the presence of a loving, caring, generous, talented, quick-witted, Wyoming gal that had the ability to bring a smile to anyone's face with her infectious laugh. She radiated love for people and life in every encounter. Annette was the epitome of the phrase, "I love you more", having an innate way of making every person in her life feel incredibly special.
