Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Anna "Willene" Hendon, 69, passed away November 2, 2011. Willene was born September 22, 1942, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Herschel "Tige" and Sarabel Langley. She was a graduate of Little Rock High School, University of Arkansas, and Colorado State University. She married Robert "Bob" Hendon on August 22, 1964. She raised their two children at their home in Fort Collins. Most recently, she worked for the National Parks Service developing web-based tools and databases, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. Willene loved the outdoors and supported numerous environmental causes, including otter spotting for the Colorado Division of Wildlife. She loved learning and took a vast array of classes including gardening, bird watching, Facebook, Twitter, and computer programming. At 62, in her most recent educational accomplishment, she earned a Master's Degree in Computer Information Systems from CSU. She had previously earned a Master's Degree in Natural Resources, with her thesis on Lory State Park being highly requested at the CSU library. Known for having a positive attitude, great sense of responsibility, and strong moral integrity, Willene always thought of others first and found ways to help others in need. Willene easily made friends, and willingly reached out to befriend those she did not know. She donated her time and effort to several charities and organizations. As a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, she served as a President and Past President of the Fort Collins Panhellenic chapter. Her love and light will be greatly missed. Willene is survived by her husband, Bob, of 47 years; her daughter, Serena Hendon-Gentry Paul of Parker, Colorado; son, Keenan Hendon Darci of Cheyenne, Wyoming; grandsons, Chauncy, Quincy, and Brendan; two brothers, George Brenda of Texas, and Sam Gwen of Tennessee, and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father. A visitation for Willene, with family present, is scheduled from 6:00–8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. The visitation is available for family and for those unable to attend the service on the Wednesday. A Funeral service for Willene is at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Roselawn Cemetery.
