Surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren, Steve Mosqueda, of Fort Collins, passed away Feb. 27, 2008, at the age of 74. Esteban "Steve" Mosqueda was born Sept. 2, 1933, in Fort Collins to Casildo and Trinidad Mosqueda. He lived in Fort Collins his entire life and graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1953. After graduation, he spent four years serving his country in the United States Air Force. At the age of 26, he married his lifelong love, Tillie Ramirez, on Jan. 30, 1960. Together, Steve and Tillie were blessed to share 48 beautiful years together. Along the way, they enjoyed their four children and 26 grandchildren. Steve was employed by Colorado State University for 36 years until his retirement in 1999. In his community, Steve was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He participated annually at the Old Timer's Softball Game on the Fourth of July. During his time employed at Colorado State and after he retired, Steve was an avid supporter of CSU athletics. Once retired, he and Tillie spent many of their winter months in Phoenix, Ariz., visiting their children and grandchildren. Arizona was a place where Steve could enjoy watching his beloved Colorado Rockies during spring training. Steve enjoyed drawing, working on puzzles and bowling with his friends as a longtime member of the CSU faculty and staff bowling league. He and Tillie's pastime would be to watch their children and grandchildren compete in sporting events. One of Steve's proudest accomplishments was in high school, when he won the Colorado state wrestling championship at 103 pounds in 1952. Ultimately, Steve's passion was his family. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He told jokes and could make anyone smile with his sense of humor and genuine spirit. He will be remembered as a kind, giving and brave man. Steve is survived by his wife, Tillie, of Fort Collins; children, Stephen Mosqueda and his wife, Sandee, of Loveland, Gerrie Enockson and her husband, Hugh, of Lakewood, Laura Crane and her husband, John, of Gilbert, Ariz., and Reuben Mosqueda and his wife, Pamela, of Gilbert, Ariz.; and 25 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Tivi, Ernestine and Eleanor; three brothers, Andy, Emelio and Augustine; and granddaughter Margaret Enockson. A Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The burial with military honors by the Fort Collins All Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Grandview Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 121 N. Meldrum St., immediately following the burial. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.bohlenderfuneralchapel.com .
