James started out quiet and a little shy. He developed friendships that were strong and long lasting. James LeRoy Snider was born Jan. 16, 1987, in Fort Collins. He passed away July 18, 2007, from injuries in a car accident. Throughout his brief life, he enjoyed basketball, camping, cooking and swimming, but his greatest love was fishing. His dad's fondest memory was of James catching a 36-inch northern pike while fishing together at Eleven Mile Reservoir. His mom vividly remembers when James was 12, collecting sand dollars, chasing crabs on the beach of Mexico and the fun he had while learning to boogie board during the trip. James was involved with the Youth Empowerment Team at the Lookout Mountain Youth Services Center. In this capacity, he had shown significant growth in the areas of leadership, professional interactions and interpersonal skills. He was a role model for other youths in the program to look up to. During his stay, he received numerous awards and accolades from the staff of the facility. Additionally, James also earned his GED, Culinary Arts Certificate and lettered in varsity basketball. James is survived by his mother, Rose Greenwood; father, Elmer Snider and wife, Peggy; grandparents, Joyce Greenwood, Jim and Arlene Snider and Zelpha Hatfield; sister, Tonya Disney; brother, Willy Johnson. Along with numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
