Roger L. Brickman of Fort Collins passed away quietly at his home with family and friends with him after a lengthy and courageous battle with a brain tumor on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006. Roger was born Aug. 6, 1966, in Denver to Donald R. and Marjory Moody Brickman. He grew up in Longmont and graduated from Longmont High School & the Career Development Center in 1984. He was the first Eagle Scout from Troop 281 in Hygiene. He loved working with his hands so he attended and graduated from the Irl C. Martin Academy with the Woodward Governor Company in Fort Collins, becoming a dedicated machinist. He continued to work at Woodward until April of this year. He received an associate degree in computer-aided manufacturing from Aims Community College. He married Lucy K. Clement on Aug. 31, 1985. They shared 21 years of love, laughter and joy. The light of his life was their two daughters, Rebecca, 19, and Jennifer, 18. As a family they enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, fishing, horse shows and dance performances. Roger could always be found carrying a camera to record the outings, activities and the beautiful scenery. He was always looking for the best photo. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dale and Nellie Moody; his paternal grandfather, Roy Brickman; paternal great-grandmother, Vera Damrow with whom he shared 30 birthdays; maternal great-grandmother, Mabel Moody; sister-in-law, Samara Johnson Brickman; and cousin, Jeffery Brickman. He is survived by his wife, daughters, parents, brother, Michael Brickman; grandmother, Elva Evan Paules; and a stepgrandmother, Ester Moody. He is also survived by his in-laws, Jean-Paul and Jeanine Clement; sister-in-law, Denise Schultz; brothers-in-law, Paul and David Gail Clement; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and coworkers. He will be remembered as a gentle giant of a man filled with kindness and compassion by family, friends and community. He recently began working with miniature trains to fill his time. He supported the 4-H clubs with pictures and work for many years. During the past year he collected angels from so many who cared for him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him but he now walks among angels. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist of Fort Collins. Contributions can be made to the American Brain Tumor Association or Buckeye Buck-N-Ears 4-H Relay for Life team in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 482-4244.
